Hello, my name is Liz and I like to make things. All sorts of things. Doesn’t matter what – the enjoyment I get out of sewing a new skirt is the same that I get when I rewire my trailer. If I can make it, then I want to.
In high school I liked to make things I could wear. I would spend weeks making costumes pieces or dresses, just because I could have an outfit just the way I wanted. Some of the time my experiments didn’t work out, sometimes they did, but I always learned something new. Occasionally I made something that could last. I still have the super cute hair barrette I made out of legos and superglue.
In college I started getting into folk instrument making and printmaking. I never thought of myself as handy or artistic, but things kept turning out (with flaws, of course), so I just kept making things. I would use whoever I had around as resources – my dad, brother, or roommates and friends. And I just kept going from there.
So this blog is a way for me to celebrate the act of making. It also allows me to share the process and results with others. A lot of the projects will be old ones from the archives, but I am always in the process of making something new. Thanks for reading; I hope you enjoy it!
